Seed Grant Program
Seed grants are intended to support the generation of data that would strengthen extramural grant applications in vertebrate genomics research. The center has funding to support a small number of research projects or requests for shared reagents/equipment with awards typically in the range of $5,000-$15,000.
Application Procedure
Eligibility- The PI for the proposal must be an active faculty member of the CVG.
Applications are reviewed by the seed funding committee and the center director. Selections will be made based on the following criteria:
- Relevance to vertebrate genomics
- Quality and promise of the project
- Likelihood that the data obtained will increase extramural fundability
- Need of the investigator
- Collaborative/interdisciplinary projects
- Cover page which should include:
- Project title
- PI name
- Co-PI names, if applicable
- Total Requested Budget
- A letter of support from the PI.
- Project Summary (limited to 5 pages) which should include:
- Project Aims
- Background and Significance
- Project Plan and Methods Used
- External Funding Potential (How you expect the results to translate into external funding)
- Proposed Budget Detail and Budget Justification
- Supplemental Material which may include:
- Letters of support from collaborators
- PI CVs
- Papers/manuscripts
Deadline for applications is October 16, 2007. Applicants will be notified ~2-4 weeks after close of deadline of their award status. Successful applicants will be requested to make a six-month progress report on their project.
